Moving Missionaries, Zone Conferences, and a Day at Olympic Park

What a fun week this was.  We started by moving missionaries between apartments.  We had to vacate two apartments and transition the Elders from one house to another.  It was a great day to do some physical work!  It was FREEZING!!!!! (this is Terri) These missionaries know how to work in every capacity!  We loved being with them.  If we'd have left this to the two office elders, it would have taken days.  We started about noon and the last missionaries arrived home around 10:30.
We moved four sisters from one house to another, they were so amazingly organized!  There move was by far the quickest.  I have to admit the two elders were in a place that missionaries lived in for a very long time, it took much more work.

We then had three days of zone conferences in different venues.  We had loads of fun being with them. The conferences included training by the assistants to the president, the zone leaders, a cooking demonstration by Sister Turner and some training by me.  We had more fun with these guys.
The lunch break is always appreciated.
Notice Terri's color addition, a lovely large Daffodil.
The cooking demonstration was in the use of Korean sweet potatoes.  In 30 minutes they can cook up rice, potatoes, onions, chicken and make a wonderful lunch or dinner.
She also showed them you can put the diced sweet potatoes in the rice cooker with rice and they steam them quite nicely.  A little kimchi and a few spices and you have a nice snack.

Sometimes we had a kitchen, other times, it was in a room with a small toaster oven and rice cooker. She fried the chicken on a table top grill.  They really
loved it.
 The daffodil gets around...
The two assistants were great at role playing, they even invited in a few extras to help.  It was an interesting hour of training.

We found a few elders doing some group studying before a conference.  They thought the picture of them studying was worthy of the blog.  It's like something new to them I guess...

Saturday we wandered over to the Olympic Park, the park was created for the 1988 Olympics.  All the venues are still used today.  Some are being updated, but it is a huge park.  The entrance nearest to our home, which is about ten minutes walk away is the Rose Plaza.  We took a picture on April 1 to record what the place looks like now before the blooming.  We'll take more pictures in a few months and show the change.  There are literally thousands of roses of every type: climbing, cluster, and normal bush roses.  We look forward to the changes.
We also wandered into a fencing tournament.  We had never seen one before.  We only stayed about 20 minutes, long enough to see the two Americans compete and win.  Here's the venue:
The competitor closest to us is the American Eli Derschwitz from New England.  His the youngest American.  He is ranked number one in the US and 10th in the world.  Here's some information on him: Number 1 Sabre fencer in the US.  Here's a shot of him actually competing:
We had a wonderful week.  We have a week to match coming these next few days.  Three more conferences.  If you didn't see your son or daughter in this week, you'll likely see them next week.  We also have a few other things planned which we hope will be blog worthy.
Again, we're amazed at these amazing missionaries who surround us.  We are supposed to be the ones who influence them for good, inspire and lift them to do good things.  However, we are learning more and more how much we are the beneficiaries of such goodness from them. Until next week!
